Eastern hemlcok tree branches with black-throated green warbler

This event is aimed at raising awareness about the current threat to eastern hemlock trees from a tiny invasive insect from Asia. All proceeds will benefit Save Kentucky’s Hemlocks, a partnership of citizens, non-profits and government agencies working together to save eastern hemlocks. The evening will start off with a group art show with approximately 25 artists participating; later that evening a line up of three of Kentucky’s finest bands will take the stage.

Group art show with original paintings, reduction prints, wood block prints, stained glass, sculptures, etc. This is a really diverse group of artists – most are from Lexington however a few artists from out of town will also be participating. Some of the artists are attempting to incorporate hemlock wood into their art pieces. Many Moons Design of Lexington donated hemlock siding from salvaged old barns.

Andrew English will be playing a solo set during the art show. Listen

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & The Picket Line - Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (Will Oldham) is one of the finest musicians to come out of Kentucky. His songs eloquently capture emotion and tend to take you along on a journey. Johnny Cash called him "the finest songwriter to come out of America in the past decade." The Picket Line is a traditional music outfit from Louisville that has more recently been collaborating with him. Listen
The Swells – Chris Sullivan, Warren Byrom , Andy Mason & friends play an eclectic mix of original songs and obscure public domain material steeped in New Orleans Traditions – covering materials from Duke Ellington to Leadbelly to Bill Monroe. Listen
Englishman - Andrew English & friends. Best described as warm and familiar folk-pop played in a room with a warm, bright fireplace but no furniture. Listen
